| no partners | | I decided to visit Denny's personal Disneyland. Mileage and AEG are guesstimates. Went from the lower trailhead (only one other car in all of those parking lots just east of the southern end of Central Ave.) to Dobbins Lookout and back. Didn't see anyone on the way up, and about a half-dozen on the way down. Cool & windy day with great views after the morning rain.
This is a great alternative to Squaw Peak or Camelback being a little longer and less-steep with a little less elevation gain, but with far fewer people. I suspect that there are more people on days other than Mondays right after a rain shower.
I have a question, however: I noted many petroglyphs right where they were supposed to be, but there was a grouping of glyphs on top of a rock about 15 yards south of the trail really close to the others. These glyphs seemed to be much deeper and more-defined than the rest, and I was wondering if they were made in recent times for some bizarre reason. They are also on top of the rock, and seem to be much less-weathered than the more-authentic-looking glyphs in the vicinity that seemed to be much more weathered. |
