| no partners | | I packed along a book today... partially because I was hoping for a shorter, easier outing, one with a more relaxed approach. And, I thought that if things worked out well the canyon I was exploring would choke out in the first mile or so with a big 70-90' waterfall. I'd get to spend the midday plopped down on a rock reading...
...well, that did not happen. I did spend some time reading, but initially it was because I took a rest break (tired and the lower canyon section was not really all that stimulating). Fortunately, the upper sections were more and more interesting, and I even managed to fit in some minor bouldering on some of the little challenges posed by the drainage.
I encountered a half mile section recently visited by a mountain lion (prints)... interesting in that I have not really encountered a lion yet in the three years of hiking this range. Bear, Elk, Porcupine, Deer, Turkey, Bobcat... those have been fairly normal to run across.
I ran across turkey tracks in the snow on top...
I totally destroyed a brand new pair of discount boots... one hike!
I think I'm ready for a non-canyon hike... hit a trail and do some miles! |
