Took Oldham up to the Brookbank Trail then over to the west to the beautiful meadow on top of the Dry Creek Hills. Took the old road down to the Schultz Creek Trail where I met a nice guy and his friendly Labrador retriever. Took the Schultz Creek Trail to the Rocky Ridge Trail then back to my car. I wasn't expecting much more than high-country exercise from this hike, but there was a lot to this hike. The views were middling, but the wildflowers were great and the beautiful meadow on top of the Dry Creek Hills was awesome. All of you single guys in Flagstaff should spend more time on the Schultz Creek Trail because I saw a bunch of nice mountain biker wahines today during the after-work hours. The Schultz Creek Trail is evidently quite popular with mountain bikers. All of the mountain bikers I came across were quite friendly which is a nice contrast to what I'm used to in the Phoenix Mtn. Preserve. Not a tough route, but very cool for a late-day excursion. I hope that anyone from the Valley who's planning on visiting Flagstaff this weekend is ready for ghastly traffic. There's the Big Red Pour beer festival in addition to the Arizona Cardinals scrimmage @ NAU. I wish I was going to the Big Red Pour to get schnockered in the pines instead of class @ ASU tomorrow.... |
