| no partners | | | The East Inlet trail is a great trail to walk. There is hardly anyone going to the Grand lakes side of the park, so if you like a private walk this is the trail. The trail starts at 8400ft, and slowly climbs for miles up to many lakes that are so beautiful. the Lone pine lake is the first of many. They say it takes about 3 hours to walk to, but try more like 7 hours if you get apline sickness, which I got right at the lake. The trail start at a meadow after the waterfall, and climbs over the trout river giving great views. then you have to climb through Cat's Liar which is very cool rocky formation, but is not for easy walking. the trail then goes through the forest that has a creek for water if you need to filter some water. the trail finally makes it to the lake. After that the trail becomes a boulder field of baseball size rocks that is hard to walk through, but gives away once you get to the campground overlooking lone pine lake. I camped there, and was so sick from apline sickness i couldnt stand it. I went to bed like at 5pm, only to wake up to a cougar trying to lick, bite my toes, finally I kicked it, and he tried again, then I seriously kicked its nose and it went on. I was going to hike all the lakes, but the sickness was so bad, i had to go back down, which only took 3 hours like the brochure said. I highly urge you to hike this trail. |
