This is a fun and challenging hike that gets few visitors according to the peak register.
I parked at the west side parking spot, by the canal footbridge. Its a bit of a walk from there across the desert floor to the base of Big Horn Peak. Travel is easy though, not much brush or cactus. I stopped to look at some mine shafts along the way. Not much to see and they are fenced in anyways.

I was going to start at the bottom of the major wash but instead made my way up to the first cliff band, to the left of the wash, so I could check out some of the caves. The caves are all shallow and filled with sheep droppings and smell of urine. Did not see any evidence of early habitation. I guess the sheep have been holding this place down for many years. I then worked my way to the right and picked up the wash about half way to its middle. The wash has a good amount of sharp vegetation, I wish I had pants for this section. It was actually worse in the lower sections, as I would find out on my way down. At the top of the wash I went left and around a bend eventually coming to what I believe is the class 4, 40 foot wall that some have climbed. I knew I could get up it but could I get down? Not wanting to find out that I couldn't I went left and found another route, avoiding the wall. From there its a lot more scrambling on loose scree, a few short climbs (depending on your exact route, some could be avoided) and then up to the small ridge just short of the top. Not many cairns on this hike. There's one last climb, about 20 feet, and you're there! Great views and luckily most of the clouds had disappeared!

I went down almost the same way but followed the main wash all the way to the bottom and then went east to check out what I thought was an old building but turned out to be a game tank built by AZ game and fish. Then the long walk back to the truck which took about an hour from the tank.
