The Dripping Springs Hike seemed perfect which it was. I learned how the parking goes, how the shuttles work, etc. BTW it took me just under an hour on the Red Line Bus to get 8 miles down the road to the Trail Head. The only other option would be to hike down the road 8 miles.
Anyway I got a late start (4PM) which made for a hot hike but I must say the Dripping Springs were super cold considering. The first mile or so of this hike which is also the last is fairly steep and the trail can get rocky at times. Beyond that the views really open up and you start to think more about where you are rather than your footing. Overall it is a great little hike and a great introduction to the Grand Canyon Village area. I was amazed by the large number of people there in the middle of the week.
I am hoping to do the Bright Angel Trail down and back sometime in the near future. After that it is time to start working on the Tonto Trail. Eventually I hope to do a Rim to Rim to Rim in Honor of my Father. It was his favorite thing to do once a year. |
