| no partners | | I got started early on this trail at 6:10am, but it was still pretty hot even by then. Hiking eastward into the sun wasn't so fun, either. I hadn't done this one in a while and since there was no record of it on HAZ, I figured I would contribute some info.
The trail is pretty flat and smooth for the most part. At the parking lot and road crossings it's necessary to leave the trail temporarily and look for where it picks up again. After the 2nd parking lot, there will be a cairn by a kind of a dirt road. Turn right on this "sort of" road, heading south, and following the sign posts to the Salt River Rec. parking lot.
On the way back I decided to following some of the many horse trails that cover this entire area. I made my way down to the Salt River to see the unusual sight of flowing water in the summertime in the sonoran desert. That added about an extra mile to my round trip distance. Once I got back to my car, I decided to drive to short distance to the Phon D Sutton Rec Area and do the Lower Salt River Interpretive Trail. |
