| no partners | | Went camping this weekend. I left early on Friday with Lucy so we'd have a chance to do the AB Young trail. I started at around noon. It was beautiful at the Bootlegger Day Use area, but it was probably low to mid 90's on the hike up. The hike quickly degenerated into a dash from shady spot to shady spot. My dog Lucy really had a hard time with heat, so we had to stop often. We went through about 4 liters of water between us and Lucy had plenty of Oak Creek water too!
We checked out the East Knob Fire Lookout Tower, saw a deer, and wandered around the forest for while. We both took a nap at the top of the switchbacks while waiting for the shadows to cover more of the trail before heading down.
A great hike, but the heat on the way up made it a tough one. |
