It was a fantastic hike - a perfect day and a nice step outside of my comfort zone. 10 years ago I had such severe acrophobia that I was having clinical panic attacks on the Hunter Trail before you even hit the scary stuff on Picacho Peak. For me, getting to the top of the Elephant without ever having serious vertigo or problems is HUGE. I'd be lying if I said there weren't a few spots where I was a bit scared, and I really owe a lot to Bill and Sirena for being patient and encouraging.
And, I must thank my rump for being a primo 1st class hiking partner.
Elephant Head is an awesome hike with spectacular views and amazingly beautiful rock. I'll be back - no doubt in my mind! |
