With the sun about to set, I rolled into Chesley Flat. I quickly threw my pack on and headed across the flat to take the short way up Grand View Peak. I reached the boulder covered western summit in time to enjoy a very colorful sunset. I watched a red ball sink below a smoky horizon, then hiked back down. After the hike, I began roaming the west end of the Pinalenos, looking for a campsite, eventually setting up on a deserted side road at Jesus-Goudy. Soup from a can tasted outstanding after a full day of roaming the 2 mile high country. |
