| no partners | | We left the house shortly before 8 on Sunday morning in our buggy. There's a big old bull out on the range behind our house, and I want to get pictures of him. He has some features about him that are different than any bull I've ever seen, and I've never been successful at getting a good shot of him. So off we went.
The San Pedro is running muddy water, but not too deep to cross. There are standing pools that will eventually dry up, but not before mosquitos overtake them.
I got pictures of the views from up high, we crossed the AZT#14 several times, and never found the bull I was looking for. But we did see a rattlesnake, and I got a pic of him. He was a good sized critter, looked like he had been eating well. He didn't seem to be afraid of us, just wary, and he never rattled.
We saw another rattlesnake that someone had killed, , then we saw a speedy little snake, that was such a flash across the road we couldn't identify it. We saw one more snake that was dead, looked to me like it was a small gopher snake. It looked like it had actually been stepped on by a cow, because there were no other vehicle marks in the road where we were. It was laying in a cow track. We saw coveys of quail everywhere, Western Tanagers, etc. It was a great day, we were back home by around 2:30 because it got hot! |
