| no partners | | At the end of Camp Bird Road we continued on our drive toward Yankee Boy Basin and wouldn't you know it, we were so wrapped up in taking pictures we missed the turn to Yankee Boy Basin. It was easy to do because the road we followed was wider, smoother and had evidence of more traffic than the road we should have taken. But as usual, we were treated to sights we otherwise would have missed.
Once back on the correct road every so often we would see vehicles parked in the various parking areas, which was expected. But the interesting thing was where each vehicle was parked seemed to depend not quite as much the capability of the vehicle but the adventurous spirit of the drivers. This came to light a bit more as we talked to various groups of hikers we came across. With plenty still on our plate for today, no matter how steep or rocky the road was, we continued on all the way to the highest trailhead, which was Mount Sneffels Trailhead at the edge of the Mount Sneffels Wilderness.
After our Blue Lakes Pass hike we retraced our route with the exception of the side-trip we managed on the way up.
