The area by the trailhead started off warm then in cooled down as you pass cardiac hill. We cruised along until we saw a diamondback sleeping on the trail. Dave took a few photos before we squeezed by. We picked a route up before dropping down to the Terrapin intersection and started the ascent. The pass between the two rock summits looked thick so we opted for a route to the east. We ended up on the lower summit but had a good view down at the saguaro. We continued down to the ridge which was fairly open and easy to hike on. The clouds were are friends and kept the sun off for most of the hike. We saw several cairns and some were large like mining claims. We then found an old mining claim. The can was rusted through and the claim paper was tattered but your could read some of it. We checked out an arch and did the normal seek and find game until connecting to the Dutchman trail south of Miners summit. The hike back was routine until I pasted by a tiger rattler and it rattled at Dave when he was right next to it. After a few more photos we hiked back to the trailhead and finished about 9:40a.
Thanks for coming out Dave. |
