On the road with my girlfriend's son, Chris, at 7am. We headed out towards Queen Valley and onto the dirt roads that would take us out to the Roger's Canyon TH. I enjoyed the off road drive almost as much as the hike. This is rugged country and the 4WD, although not mandatory, certainly made travel a bit easier.
We arrived at the trailhead at 8:30am and started our hike. Water was running through the canyon the whole way, which made the trip even more pleasant. The creek was about 4-5 feet wide on average, and featured several small waterfalls. The waterfalls got better as we approached the ruins. Several multi-tier falls and the biggest falls were about 6 feet tall.
Great ruins built into cliffside caves. Amazingly well preserved. Disappointed to see human footprints on the roof of the biggest dwelling. These people are potentially creating permanent damage to these 600 year old dwellings. Idiots!
We had to make it a short trip due to Christmas Eve party plans. I look forward to coming back and spending more time in this area. I noticed several other spots along the trail that need further exploration. |

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
