We left the trail just above the first saddle and made it across to the other side pretty quickly. Crossed the drainage below the Roost, went around the ridge in between the Roost and the peak, then climbed up to a saddle and up to the peak from there. Great spot with great views in all directions!!
We wanted to try to get to the cliffs above Don's Camp but it is a long way down there from the other side of the peak. We started in that direction but knew if we got there we'd be tempted to find a route down so we changed course and made our way over to the Peralta side of the area. Kicked it around over there then headed back towards the Roost on a different route.
We climbed the ridge between the peak and Roost and took a break at another saddle and surveyed the area. We roughly knew where the Roost was on the other side and heard voices from across the drainage. We decided to go for it and dropped down off the saddle and across the head of the drainage. We headed up an overgrown chute and came out right beside the main entrance of the Roost! We wondered if anyone had done that before!
Out of the Roost, up past the surfboard and down to Fremont and the Cave Trail. Another great day in the Supes! We even got to watch base jumpers above Don's Camp when we got back to the car. Then we had a stop at Mickey D's for a hot 'n spicey! "The best dollar you'll ever spend." Right on! Thanks Mike! |
