| partners | | The forecast was for rain, but we decided to head out on the camping trip anyway. I had been very close to bailing on the camping part when John said "tarp and firewood" and then I was definitely in! Over half of the group that was supposed to come bailed because of the weather.
We followed the directions we got from CannondaleKid (Thank you!) and checked out a few campsites finally settling on one near White Canyon which had some nice trees to hang our tarp off from. Our Outback handled the road pretty nicely which just one scraping noise.
We set up our camp in some light rain and then headed out on a short hike. The rain was light and off and on the rest of the afternoon. It might have been more off then on even.
White Canyon is beautiful. It will be hard to tell from my photos since the weather wasn't exactly a nice blue sky kind of day. What I don't understand is why someone had to spray paint dots and arrows to mark the trail. It's easy - you either go up canyon or down canyon...
We found that the dots ended at one of the waterfalls. We decided to continue a way to see what was up canyon. The canyon was considerably rougher after the dots ended. We ended going up out of the canyon for break with a good view of the canyon below. There were interesting cave out formations in the cliffs which were cool to see.
We had a good time in camp with our tarp set up. We had happy hour with some cheeese and crackers. Joel and I made our pork tenderloin in the dutch over. The rain stopped and we enjoyed the campfire. It was a nice day and it made me realize that one shouldn't always cancel because of rain. Being outside is great if you are prepared! |
