| no partners | | I always get really excited when I see the Eagle that hangs out on the Verde. It is one of those things that just gets me pumped up no matter how many times I see it/them.
Dusty ride to the Peeley TH but I was excited that I was finally able to drive it after almost a year being closed. Wildflowers were growing where normally you would see manzanita or other shrubs. It felt like I was carrying two eight pound weights. Well I kinda was 1 gallon of water to cache and 7.9 pds of high-powered telescope which I'd later find out was missing an essential piece. All that meant is I'd have more time to put me feet to the ground.
From the saddle I headed west and then south, it felt good to be on the North side again. I spent time glassing and bushwhacking and eventually went up to the ridgeline. I then went back down and was greeted by the sounds of Falcons which I have encountered before. I backtracked and climbed up Sheep so as not to disturb them. Earlier I encountered a Turkey Vulture who came pretty close to me and also while I was screaming in pain from a cactus handhold, a hummingbird came within about 5ft of me. Agave won 2 - nil...one to the snozzyarewski and the other to the foot.
Lots of ladybugs on the summit. I followed the ridgeline for awhile and then went back down into the north side; later I would come back to the ridgeline and find some weird stuff I had probably passed many times. Again no clues. |
