| no partners | | For the holiday weekend we decided to do an overnight trip to see Meteor Crater and the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest. After seeing Meteor Crater on Friday, we spent the night in Holbrook. The Best Western Inn there, by the way, was incredible. We got the suite, which was not much more than a regular room and it was more like an apartment.
Saturday we woke up and made our way to the Petrified Forest. We did a lot more than just the Blue Mesa Trail, and I've linked all the ones currently on HAZ that we did. We started doing a little bit of the Giant Logs Trail, then did 2 miles on the Long Logs/Agate House trail. We skipped the Long Logs loop and just went out and back to the Agate House ruin. After that, we stopped at the Blue Mesa Trail. I didn't plan on doing that trail, but once we got started down the trail, I just got drawn in. Definitely one of the best sights in the park. We kept booking thru it taking pics. Natasha and I did the whole thing in just over 20 minutes. Radmila and Dmitri only did about half of it, stopping where the loop begins.
Our last stop was at the Puerco Pueblo. That was pretty nice. The petroglyphs are really interesting to see.
Afterwards we stopped at the north end of the park for some final photos and headed back to the desert heat. |
