Last Day of my Zion National Park, UT Trip...Wanted to see more of the areas of UT and AZ that I've never seen, so I elected to take US 89 out of Kanab with the plan to spend some time at Glen Canyon/Lake Powell/Page...I actually anticipated Camping another Night in that area...

The Wind was fairly strong in the A.M. when I left and just kept getting stronger...By the time I got to the Paria Toadstool Area and did that Hike, it was really getting with it...Saw some beautiful areas on the Utah side and after I finished at the Toadstools, I made my way to the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area...Just shy of the AZ Border was my first stop and where I was hoping to Camp...

It was an incredible area! I could definitely see returning there and having a Beach Camp Out with friends...White Sand Beach, Turquoise Water and Wonderful Views...Unfortunately, on this day, the Wind was now a sustained 50 MPH with gusts in excess of 60+ MPH...It was a literal Sandstorm...The Beach was deserted and there were very few people left, on a Sunday. It was pretty inhospitable for Camping unless you are in an RV...Soooo, after braving the Wind for a few minutes down on the Beach, I left and continued on towards the Dam and Page...

After stopping at pretty much every Overlook area between there and the Dam, I arrived at the Dam and Bridge, taking some time there for Photos as well...I find it hard to believe sometimes, as an AZ Native, that this was my first time up here. I've fished Lee's Ferry several times, but have never been here...My Dad and Brother had fished Powell a couple of times and had a blast, but I had never been along. I was way overdue to see this area! After finishing up at the Dam, I continued on, stopping in Page for Dinner and stopped at one more Overlook before heading on over to Antelope Point...Didn't spend much time there, but I know that Antelope Canyon will someday be a Destination for me... :)

Thought about doing Horseshoe Bend, but by now, the Wind, Sand and Driving had pretty much wore me down, so I headed on South for home...The other deciding factor was the signs stating that 89T was only allowed to be used during Daylight Hours??? Really??? It turned out ok though, as I got to see more pretty Country along that Route as well, before it got Dark. Kind of Weird that they would impose that kind of Restriction though...What are they going to do? Issue Tickets if you're on it after Dark??? :-k

This was a good Day...Seriously could have done with the Winds at half that Speed though... By the time I got to Lake Powell, the distant Views were pretty obscured by the Dirty, Sand Driven Air which was a Shame..But I'll be back! It was a good Ending to a fantastic Trip!
