On March 19 2014 two of us from Sun City Oro valley hiking club drove in with an SUV from Park Link Dr S on Owl Head Ranch Rd. Turned left on jeep rd under the power line. This jeep rd gets rough very quickly so we only went in 1 mile E and then parked before you get to the buttes. You can park earlier if you want, but will give you a longer hike to the buttes. The area is wonderful with lots of saguaros. We headed towards the buttes then N on a side jeep trail which is W of the N buttes. The saddle looked inviting and we bushwhacked up to it from the W which is steep but ok. Beautiful view of a rock arch on the way up and views of Picacho Peak from the top. Descended steeply round the NE side of the butte and picked up the side jeep trail again and headed N. Returned on a jeep rd running SE which took us back to the power line rd on the E side of the buttes and returned along the power line rd. There is some private land on the S side of the power line rd, so best to stay N of the power line rd which is State Trust Land
