| no partners | | I got a late start because I had to deal a tele-scammer who was spoofing as an IRS agent before I left . I saw JJ pull into the Deer Creek TH as headed up the rim .
I parked at the General Crook TH by the Black Canyon Rim GC.
I headed down the Hangman trail. Last time I was on the hangman trail, it was raining and dark, so I missed the cemetery. This time I was going to see it. Well I went past (again! ) and found out that I did when I saw a family of 4 heading up the other way. They set me straight and I found it after walking around some dead fall first.
I then headed to the Black Canyon lake for a snack break and then went to the Baca cemetery. I met a pair of guys who know the area and its history. We talked for a bit.
I then tinkered around on the maze of roads from the Boca cemetery to the rim road.
Once I got back on the rim road, it started to pour! It rained so hard that my boots were squishy.
I wanted to get to the Buckskin lookout tower again, but I ran out of time and the sky looked dark. I didn't want to go mud skating on the Buckskin road, so I turned around about a 1/2 mile from the LO tower.
It was a hot and cold day. When I started it was very warm with a lot of sun. Once it started to rain, the temps dropped fast and I had a rain jacket and a poncho to stay warm. |
