| partners | | john and i had this hike on our wish list for awhile
we got denny to come along too
set out on a well-maintained trail up to the saddle
just above that, hit a little bit of scree and loose rock on a visible route with a few cairns
made one short scramble and came to a secondary saddle where you could see toward the west
stayed mostly on a ridge to the summit
knife edge was fun, with a dramatic drop-off and great views
footing was good enough to stay near the edge
checked out the summit and enjoyed the 360 degree panorama
our route down wasn't the greatest through the scree part
not my favorite thing
left my hiking pole in the car, and could have used it
that section is short, and soon enough we were back at the main saddle
not sure how we bypassed the scramble downclimb on our descent
random thoughts:
short but sweet hike, and a great summit
it's really not difficult hiking
good company, and thanks denny for driving
the flying focus did fine to the trailhead
we felt that denny should have the experience of breakfast at the brass rail afterwards
my sundays are for new adventures, and this was a good one |
