| no partners | | With all those cool dark, ominous looking clouds hanging over the Superstitions, I had to grab my camera and hit the trails. I chose the Siphon Draw because that's where the clouds seemed to be concentrated. I also packed a chubby little blue character to insert as a photobomb in some of the photos for a touch of......humor
On the way out to Mining Camp, I passed the Superstition Mtn Museum and saw the clouds, the Elvis Chapel and the Superstitions all perfectly aligned, but there was a hundred people milling around there too so I passed it like the plague. As I arrived at the Mining Camp parking lot, there was several cars parked so my hopes of having the trails all to myself were dashed.
I headed up the main trail but took several bushwhacking jaunts to get into the center of the Brittlebush, the Chuparosa, and the now blooming Globe Mallow. The Brittlebush are past their prime and close-up they're showing lots of wilting but still have a lot of color for the distant shots.
I continued on the trail which was pretty humid today following the evening's quarter-inch of rain, and caught up with the crowds at the slick-rock basin. Much too busy here so I took a short break, checked HAZ Tracks, and made my return amid screaming kids, loud tunes and barking dogs Seems like I always regret taking this route during peak travel hours
Stopped for a refreshingly cold brew and conversation at the Bluebird then headed back home.

Wildflowers Observation Substantial Lots of Brittlebush still around but they're in the late stages of bloom. Many Chuparosa still blooming in the wash. The orange Globe Mallow are beginning to fill out, they still have a ways to go. Very few Poppy's could be found. |

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip. |
