This is a great hike/scramble. I swore I'd never come to this mountain again because the fee is ridiculas. A year pass is $75 which is more expensive than the Grand Canyon year pass, makes no sense. At any rate, for five bucks I think this ridgeline hike is worth it.
I passed the cave in 32 minutes going brisk. The trail past the "End of Trail" sign was really pretty good. Up to the ridge that is, then you're on you own. The ridge is big honkin' black jagged-cut slabs of rock. The going turns into a snails pace but it's fun searching for the stable rocks.
Good views all around.
Being the moron I am, I did this hike after skipping a nights sleep. My balance was unstable to say the least. I fell on the return. My hand & wrist took a beating. It looks like I was playing patty-cakes with Freddy Krugger.
If you're planning on doing Wind Cave, do yourself a favor and keep on goin! Thanks to ck1 for posting this one. |
