| partners | | I was able to finally cross Mazatzal Peak off my to do list today. I was surprisingly able to get all of the usual suspects to join me on this warm mid-September endeavor.
It was a tad warm at times and there were a couple of brushy spots but the ascent still went relatively well. We enjoyed the cooler temps, and the sporadic cloud covered with a nice breeze once we reached the summit. After that, it was simply retracing our route and then making our way down Y-Bar to the trailhead.
In the end, it is a very nice peak, with rewarding summit that is certainly worth the effort. I was very happy to knock this one off the list with others who had been and not solo. Perhaps, it could have been done on a cooler day, but I still enjoyed the hike. Everyone exhausted their water before arriving back to the TH and this included me who started the day with nearly 170 oz of water for myself and Mr. Blanco who deserves a hand for performing admirably under some pretty tough conditions and along a relatively challenging route. |
