| no partners | | I usually don't hike the Peralta Trail on weekends, but this morning was off to such a cool start that I had to take my chances. I hit the trail around 06:30 with just enough light to clearly see the trail without tripping over the rocks and the noisy crowds weren't too far behind me.
I kept up a steady pace but stopped occasionally to take in the sunrise as it lit up the Hoodoos on the far side of the canyon and the almost-full moon hanging in the deep blue morning sky.  When I reached the Saddle, I headed on out to the Lone Pinon tree on the point where I met a hiker who was returning from the point, he said he came up by way of the Cave Trail.
On my way back from the point, I was debating whether to return by way of the Cave Trail, but then I noticed a noisy group of 8 heading out that way and quickly changed my mind. The Saddle was filling up already with noisy hikers and I could hear more coming up the trail so I just headed back down. The trip down took longer than usual due to the number of groups that I met and I allowed them to pass.... I was told once that uphill hikers have the right-of-way.  I met an adult man and woman with a Yellow Lab heading up the trail, as they passed, I noticed that he was carrying a single bottle of water...for the three of them  Where, oh where, do these people come from ](https://hikearizona.com/dex2/images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif "Brick wall")
Got back to the trailhead a tad after 10:00 and chatted with the FS Volunteer on duty then hit the road for home. The TH parking lot was full and vehicles were parking in the overflow lots... Gotta quit hiking these popular trails on the weekends. |
