| no partners | | This, a safe & successful exploratory, route finding hike to access down into ECC Canyon Drainage via this ancient stacked rock path (from Oregon Hiker & my May'15- [ photo ] & [ photo ] ) and explore up and down the canyon drainage viewing for pics some most interesting alcove areas within the rugged cliffs above was the high priority hike for my five day camping trip to this area.
I was successful and survived it without any mishaps and was totally intrigued by the rugged cliffs scenery that abounds within the short distance up and down canyon that I was able to cover. The difficult part will be finding a way to safely access for a closer view some of this interesting "scenery". I was also amazed as it appeared to me that no human had been on this ancient rock route in eons..I did not even see any animal (deer or elk) signs of trying to negotiate this route down or back up to rim top. I did see a few deer prints up & down the canyon drainage, but not many. On the ancient rock path, there were numerous large groupings of prickle pear cactus that I needed to move out of the route path in order to continue..this just reconfirms to me that I was the first one down and back up this route in a long time.
My only regret is that those previously invited who had other unexpected plans come up were not able to join me and share in this highlight day A return visit will now be necessary!!
(some posted pics to follow in a ~few days) |
