Returned to Usery Mountain Regional Park for some exercise and desert therapy. Prior to the hike, I worked out and did a quick herping stint and flipped a board with a dback under it. :y: I mid-size teen snake, my 3rd dback of the year.

I went up Wind Cave. It took me 36 minutes to reach the cave with some stops to photograph birds on the way up.

After the hike, I went searching around the desert for wildlife. I ended up seeing one small gopher snake. It appeared lethargetic. It hissed and struck at me, but his posture and display was just awful and maladriot. I could tell it was not into it because he had a full or partially full belly, so I took a quick, out-of-focus pic and left it alone.

This year's tally:
- 9 gopher snakes
- 3 dbacks
- 1 coachwhip
- 2 coyotes
- 17 new species seen
- 1 ex-girlfriend
