Passage 16 of the AZT is getting the love now, with machine maintenance from the BLM access lot on Centurian Road west to ?. I spent today with the crew, working down the hill from a point several hundred yards past the completion monument. The machine makes quick (compared to a pick and McLeod) work of digging drains, opening turns and general clean up. The hand crew (me today) lays in the rock armoring and barriers and polishes things off with a rake.

Work continues till it's done. It's slow going on the steep areas where the trail is eroding and washing out. Next week the usual crew will install two AZT supergates just north of the railroad trestle where the trail drops into the trees.
