Beaver Turkey Ridge Wildlife Quiet Area

Despite the pain and swelling from my wisdom tooth extraction and the splitting headache that came (comes) on every 5 hours or so, I wanted to check out some colors. We drove up and wandered around in the Turkey Beaver Wildlife Area. Some pockets were at their prime while others had passed and yet others hadn't even started. At our quiet lunch spot I was almost ran over by two cow elk that were spooked by something. I heard hooves thumping on the leaves on the forest floor for a few seconds and turned around - there they were - a few yards from me galloping in. It was amazing how fast and gracefully they made a 90 degree turn to their left / my right so no contact was made :lol:

A good and relaxing day with great weather and nice colors.
