| no partners | | With the late kickoff for the Steeler game, I took the family out for another hike up in Scottsdale to do some sections of trails that I haven't done yet. Just as we started along the Saguaro Trail, I heard someone coming up behind us say "Darth Stiller". I turned around and saw @trekkin_gecko. Nice to meet you Kelly, and nice to see another HAZ member out on a hike.
It was sunny to start, but by the time we ended it was a bit hazy and cloudy. We did the Gateway Loop Trail clockwise, but then took the Paradise Trail down to the Levee trail on our way back to mix it up a bit and get a little more mileage. I also did a couple spurs just to map them out on my GPS while the family went ahead to the next trail junction.
Just as we were about to finish, we started talking to a horse rider coming the other direction. It turns out she actually knew a few words in Serbian since she used to be a teacher and taught some refugees from Bosnia a few years back. The horse let out a few snorts that startled Dmitri a little bit, but he was ok.
Finished up before noon and got lunch on the way home. Nice day out with the family hike, although much less intense than hike Battleship Mt. last weekend. |
