I have been on many of the shorter trails in the park and this hike was a little variation on the official Hidden Valley Trail. The trail head is at Quail Spring Parking lot and is probably mostly used by rock climbers. Not much to say about the trail except the scenery all along the trail will keep you occupied. The route shows us going up a small canyon and then turning around. I wanted to cross over the canyon pass and reconnect up with the trail on the other side but the person I was with was not equipped to do the rock hopping that would be required to do this so we just headed back the way we came. There were a couple of rock climbers doing their thing on the rock cliff faces to the east of us. Spring time is a great time to come to this park because the desert is in bloom. Not sure this spring will be a good year do to the lack of rain, but they still have February and it could be wetter. |
