| no partners | | | This hike to the window rock can be completed within a single day if one starts early & does not loiter too long. However, I decided to make it an overnight backpack trip, as I like to loiter and take pictures with my lightweight Nikon and tripod. The start elevation at Lowes Ventana Resort trailhead is 3000'. The trail crosses the creek in the narrow canyon 14 times. There was a good water flow due to the snow melt, but I never had a problem crossing the creek. The maiden pools were a welcome relief after a consistent uphill grind. After relaxing for about an hour at the pools, I continued up the canyon to the peak. On the way down the next day, I couldn't resist the temptation, so I took a dip in the creek. (frigid! but instant rejuvenation) |
