| partners | | Using Route Editor in satellite view while planning for our three-day Sierra Ancha hiking/camping trip I noticed faint walls on the summit of Jim Sam Butte, so naturally we had to check it out.
It turned out to be a reasonably quick-and-easy hike up to the summit... as long as we followed the cattle/elk trails between patches of cat's claw.
The long low rock wall which presented itself as we approached the summit confirmed there was, in fact, a ruin site at the summit... a nice 68th birthday gift, albeit one day early.
Since it is so accessible, we really didn't expect to find more than random potsherds, and that's exactly what we found... very little. |
