| no partners | | We thought we would check out this hike. The plan was to start at the Ranger Station trailhead and do the south half of the hike and hike back. We didn't quite make 1/2 way, but had a nice time. Started at 7am and finished as 12 noon.
Scenery gets better as you go along, but isn't exceptional.
But this hike does have a couple of things going for it.
1. Tons of different types of birds
- House Finch
- Phainopepla (Lots of these)
- Scrub Jay
- Cactus Wren
- Gila Woodpecker
- Harris Hawks? - a couple Have a nest in the power line towers at the first part of the hike. They seem to hang out there all day.
- Quail
- Finches? unable to identify
- Western Bluebird
- Townsend's solitaire
- Verdin
- White-crowned Sparrows
2. Real nice water fall at Camp Creek Falls
Trail is well maintained.
Another nice feature is that at one point in the early part of the hike, if you look south and west, you can see Four Peaks, Toms Thumb, and Weavers Needle at the same time, pretty cool. |
