| no partners | | There is another cattle gate along AZT #21 and a potential candidate for an AZT gate. This one is at Boulder Pools, 0.3 mile north of Crabtree Spring. Access is going to be quite tricky. It would be 2 miles to come in from the top (FR 422) and the other choice is from Boulder Tank / FR 3529.
Decided to recon the access from Boulder Tank. Less than a mile from the highway Sycamore Creek flooded down FR 22 and took out the road! There is an ATV bypass but not a way through for a full-size vehicle. Forest service will need to fix this before we can get in here...
Wanted to check vehicle access all the way to the tank following FR 22, FR 1451 and FR 3529. There are definitely a few gnarly spots so I’m not sure we could get to the tank. Perhaps if we do a bit of work on the road we could make it.
From the tank we will need to find an off trail route to the gate location. This looks doable but will require quite a bit of clearing.
On the way out I took the AZT back to FR 22. Lots of flowers and perfect weather made it a great day out |
