:GB: :GB: :GB: Oh my heck! :GB: :GB: :GB:
I'm up and moving today but just barely......."things" are a little sore here. It was a total body experience with :worthy: Matt and Friends, I'm very thankful that they wanted to do this hike with me and let me tag along with them for the rest of the day to do a second adventure. (the jug)

This was hike #34 in Todd's Technical Canyoneering book. Really the only Non-Technical one in his book. I checked the roads out a few days ahead of time to make sure it was doable but had a bit of an issue locating the canyon with just the book. After a little coaching from a friend with good map reading skills I felt a little more secure about where I was going and how to exit without getting lost. (thanks Darrell) ;)

Interestly enough Matt saved the day with his GPS on this first trip of the day. Oak Creek Canyon was simply amazing and more fun than I imagined. This scenic red quartzite box canyon had more pools of water than I could count....most of which we waded through intentionally. At times we emerged looking like sea creatures covered in green slime that was dangling off our bodies. I'm certain that stuff had medicinal qualities. We did have to work together to keep our camera gear dry and had some traction issues with our shoes---left my 5.10 canyoneers in the car....having no idea we'd be that wet. Temps started heating up the last mile or so in Cougar Canyon. (consumed 80oz of water easily) Popping out of the canyon to relocate the cars was the tricky part, as I had anticipated + a bit of a bush whack....but again---Matt and that GPS guided us right back to the car without one wasted step. Dang, Matt........good thing you had that GPS with you! LOL We only used the Topo once but we were glad to have that, too ---at a place that unexpectly forked prior to entering the canyon.

We jumped in the vehicles (FYI--"matt can get any vehicle any where", is a true statement) and made our way to a little store to refill our drinking water and headed off to THE JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG!!!!!!!!

Matt, Mike and James you guys are awesome--- :thanx: so much for joining me on this crazy little adventure.
