| no partners | | Still working on building up my elevation prowess. I felt ready for this clockwise loop from the Visitors Center. Everyone else of the Summit Challengers were mostly doing the up and back, altho one hiker passed me who I think was lost as she was doing the loop I was doing; altho I would vary mine.

It seems like they put an extra switch back on this east side, also laid down some rock on the bottom part

amazing how much pavement is still left on this section going up to the old Cloud restaurant
Did okay on this climb, kept thinking of subtle comments of encouragement from fellow HAZers on my last weekend's hike. Once I reached the western towers I stopped to do a selfie video telling my niece how sorry I was that I missed her marching band competition as google took me to the wrong Glendale Community College Campus. And you know I don't do selfies but I wanted her to know I was thinking of her.
Still feeling good I went up the paved hill and up to the other set of towers where the other 1200 hikers would eventually get to for a picture with the Phx Summit Challenge flag. Now, I know you won't believe this but I actually passed ten, yes ten hikers, on my way down. I'm sure that will never happen again but heh, that's what can happen when there are 1200 hikers on the trails in a day. |

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
