| no partners | | I have had these ruins on my radar for some time and then I realized you can hike to the summit of Loy Butte above them! OK! Why not?
Well, the ruins do require a bit of a scramble to reach the first set but getting up to the butte required more scramble and exposure than I was expecting! We didn't feel too comfortable following the suggested route so we went farther south and scrambled up some crazy desert flora, loose rock, steep cliff hugging, bushwacking madness. As unsettling as that was, I still preferred it to climbing a too vertical wall that would leave me with major boo boos if I lost my footing!
I will say that we did end up coming down the suggested route but found some loopholes to help avoid some of those sheer cliff areas. |
