| no partners | | drove into the needles district of canyonlands monday morning
got going around 1100 from the trailhead at squaw flat
did the loop clockwise, following squaw canyon first
a mix of sand, dirt and slickrock trail with minor elevation changes
at the intersection with big spring canyon trail, a fun climb up and over a saddle before dropping into the canyon
both trails featured sandstone canyon walls, but we thought big spring was more scenic
an interesting exit through some boulders, then back to the parking lot to close the loop
saw maybe a dozen people on this hike
several possibilities in this area for another visit: druid arch, the joint trail, chesler park
lots to explore
we had time for another short hike in the afternoon |
