| partners | | With perfect weather in the forecast and both of us looking to knock out a good mileage day that wasn't a straight mountain climb, we headed for the east loop. It was a tit nipply with a brisk wind as we got started and we found some lingering snow almost immediately.
There was a little bit of water flowing in most of the drainages, but definitely not as wet as I've seen at this time of year before. I had forgotten how much up and down there is on the east side. Fred was lazy. Babe was not!
After climbing out of Barbershop on the north end and hit 139G, we decided to clip the corner and knock a couple miles off our loop by skipping Pinchot and instead headed directly toward Aspen Spring and reconnecting with the trail there. We passed three separate pairs of hikers between Aspen and our start point, the only others we saw on the day.
For an old standby, this one rarely disappoints. |
