| no partners | | The Mildred Lakes trail begins at the end of Hama Hama road in the Olympic National Forest. My niece and her brother in law joined me. They didn't realize what they were getting into 
The elevation gain from the trailhead to the first lake is 2100 ft. The AEG is another story. If you are tired of trails with switchbacks, this hike is for you. One stretch of trail has 1000 ft of gain in 0.6 miles.
I made it to two of the three lakes. I turned around at the second lake because my hiking partners were trashed before we got to the first lake and were waiting for my return where they were resting. The lakes are beautiful are the surrounding mountains. We momentarily lost the trail a few times. There are no signs and the trail splits and gets feint in places.
Challenging wonderful hike.  |
