This is on my list of favorite fall hikes.

I was surprised there were only 2 cars in the lot when I arrived.
Overnight overcast skies kept the start to a pleasant 41°. Skys stayed mostly cloudy for the majority of the day, so most of the too many photos I took, were muted.

A quick spin up the See Spring Trail. Colors were vibrant, but will be prime probably next weekend.

I passed one group of 8 on my way up See Canyon. Those were the only hikers I saw all day.
The upper 1/3 of this canyon is still a steep one. At one point I stopped to take some photos and heard some elk crashing up the hill. Only moments later to realize it was the sound of my heart beating.

All of See Canyon has great color. The upper 1/3 is prime right now.

Up on the rim, in Bear Canyon, I heard my first elk bugle of the season. He was within 50 yards, but I could not see him. There was water flowing the entire length of the canyon running into Bear Canyon lake.

Now at the lake, there were a smattering of fishermen trying their luck. at this point, the winds were blowing strongly and it was on the cool side if stopped. The trail on west side of lake is in great shape and easy to follow, especially the southern portion.

Next I was off to Beaver canyon for my return up a side canyon west of Rattlesnake Ridge. I was hoping to find some color here, bud did not come across any until the upper 1/4 mile.

Headed back down See Canyon I got to enjoy the colors all over again.

The only people I saw were a couple people fishing close to the TH. The parking lot was almost empty at 5pm.

See Spring Trail should be prime next weekend.
The upper 2/3rds of See Canyon Trail is prime now. It should last through next weekend.
The are some late holdouts up on top of the rim, but most is on the ground.
