| partners | | Birdboy Wonder was birding for a rare seven-beak one-eyed partridge. Cowboy camped in a luxury campground with high winds overnight. Started in headlamps to make the day work. Nobody that has hiked with me in cold weather will believe it, but Sean out whined me by 99%. 200 ft up my first sand dune, I figured I was good for life. Highlights included a screaming badger formation, a batman esque glyph, and a cascading ribbon of ice. Dunes are addictive, tackled another on the return. It looked and was fun.
Sean explored two areas outta my ability. No partridges in pear trees, just ravens, a house finch, and a dark-eyed junco.
Not much snow on Humphreys. The north slopes of lower craters had the most. The ride back to the Valley featured the worst imaginable music that is undoubtedly banned in small countries. Nevertheless, it was an inspiring trip, about ready to escape a nightmare for more. |
