The hike is on a well marked and well maintained trail almost all the way to the summit. The final 100 feet or so of vertical gain involves a fairly easy rock scramble. There was a snow field to cross not far below the summit, but it was easy to walk across.
After making the ascent of Lassen Peak, we went through the volcanic crater and hiked over to the Lassen Wilderness highpoint. This was the highlight of the hike for me.
I enjoyed this hike much more than I thought I would: the views are impressive, and there is some really interesting geology.
For some reason routescout quit recordind for the second time in 2 days. I had to restart it and it worked fine thereafter. However, the track is a straight line from where it stopped recording to where it restarted. |
