| | | Couldn't have asked for better weather today. Sunny, clear, perfect temps. Great company, too. Started off at Carney Springs TH, ended up at Lost Dutchman SP. While tackling the ridgeline, we also summitted Superstition Mountain (Peak 5057) and Peak 5024 at the end of Siphon Draw Trail.
For those of you in the group who were placing bets on how many blisters I would end up getting while breaking in a brand-new paper of hiking boots from Wally World (aka WalMart), your answer is 0! (Doubled boot socks on each foot...works every time!) Wasn't the brightest thing to do, but I've worn out another pair of boots and haven't been able to do another smaller hike since. I reglued the soles on the pair I had to duct tape to get through the Camelback Cholla TH-peak-Echo Canyon TH-peak-Cholla TH, but I didn't want to risk the boots turning into flip flops again on the ridgeline!
Secrets discovered: If going out with rally_toad, make sure he does a long, exhausting hike the day before you go out with them...then you can keep up with him. If with rushthezeppelin? Take him steep elevation and deny him bananas. What to do about wallyfarak? That secret has yet to be discovered...maybe cryptonite needs to be involved...
Difficulty (for me): (of 5) |
