| no partners | | After two months of a fairly decent monsoon in 2023, there were a larger number of wildflowers on this hike than I have seen in eight years of hiking around Prescott. Some were along Potts Creek Trail #327, but most were on a trail that starts by continuing southwest when Potts Creek Trail makes a sharp turn to the southeast to cross an intermittent stream. There were no trail signs at the fork or where the trail ends at Thumb Butte Road near Sunset Overlook. The Iron Springs topo shows the trail, but doesn't identify it. I asked a group of three runners who checked their smartphones that had the route they were running, but they could not provide a name or number for the trail. A dog walker said that he new someone who called the trail "Sparrow," so that is the name I have used.
The photoset includes one of four meadows of wildflowers crossed by this hike. This route was reached by hiking one mile west along High Valley Ranch Trail #391 from the trailhead on Copper Basin Road where the paved surface ends. I have posted that trail separately, to update the information about it. |
