Normally I wouldn't think of Summerhaven on a Sunday due to the crowds and traffic, but it wasn't nearly as a bad as I feared. We even found a place to park not far from the trailhead.
We only went about a half mile, then turned round and returned on the lower social trail. Wow. Just, wow. So many maple trees you'd think you were in Canada. They were all in varying shades of red, purple, pink, orange, yellow and green. LE made maple leaf crowns for herself and wifey to wear. We took lots of pictures.
It was quite chilly up there, unexpectedly so. Beyond Bread shrewdly proffers hot chocolate so we stopped in at the lodge to warm up before heading back home. |
