| partners | | I took a day off so that we could avoid the crowds of Fish Creek. We headed up from the bridge, then down and eastward into the canyon. It is really incredible and quite a challenge to find your way of passage. My first word of advice, go ahead and get your feet wet. I kept trying to avoid that and ended falling in due to that infamous wobbly rock. If you just realize you are going to get your feet very wet, don't try to avoid the inevitable. Plus the hike is much more enjoyable when you can walk in the water and not hop on wobbly rocks or go through very cluttered areas.
Kat said there was a lot of water as compared to last year at this time when she went. The pools were quite deep in many cases and walking through the water can be a little slick. We got up to the 5 little waterfalls and then trekked our way up and around to get to the huge, and I mean HUGE, boulders blocking any further progress.
We could have gone to the top of these boulders but it would have entailed climbing a small tree trunk up onto the boulders. There were a couple teens who did it with no problem, but back at their age; we could have too. We also had back packs which made traversing through narrow areas a bit difficult at times.
We did see a green turtle about twice the size of the palm of your hand and tried to get him to peak his head out but he was bashful. We saw a couple little frogs and some itty bitty fish and the lizards were frolicking about too. We saw about 3 other couples and the 3 teens on the back part of the hike.
Despite my mishap, it's definitely worth the time and effort to be a part of such an extraordinary place! |

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
