| no partners | | | The plan was to hike out the Dutchman trail to the Peralta short cut but I changed up and decided to hike the hills and ridges near the horse lot. The stroll revealed the usual pick & shovel stashed away and several horse trails off the main route that one could follow. I crossed the road to the south and thought that ridge looked fun. I hiked up on Peak 2735 which is near Peak 2891 saddle but will go over to Peak 2891 another day. After returning to the trailhead the sun was blocked by clouds so it was still to nice to quit. The hike continued down second water trail to the small canyon that goes between Second Water & Dutchman trails. I found the fake ruin, the area with lots of rock flakes and arch and a back route up to Black Mesa. An interesting area very close to the trailhead. I may have to take the route all the way up to Black Mesa one day. |
